Rich media refers to elements on a web page (or in a separate player) which exhibit dynamic motion over time or in response to user interaction. This site has examples of accessible rich media, information about available tools, resource links and discussion about multimedia access issues and solutions. SMIL: Synchronized Multimedia Integration Language (http://www.w3.org/AudioVideo/)
Designed by the W3C, Synchronized Multimedia Integration Language enables simple authoring of interactive audiovisual presentations. The SMIL language is an easy-to-learn HTML-like language.

Microsoft® Synchronized Accessible Media Interchange (SAMI) simplifies captioning for developers, educators, and multimedia producers and designers. The SAMI file format specification is available to the public as an "open" (no licensing fees) standard.
