Instructors at Yale University can apply for grants to support teaching innovation. This web site contains up-to-date information describing these sources of funding, and instructions on how to effectively pursue these opportunities.

Grant Programs include:

Paul Moore Fund - to support the development of new methods and materials for either the organization of important basic courses or the design of new courses, with highest priority for courses that respond to the recommendations and initiatives of the Report of the Yale College Committee on Education.

Center for Language Study and Consortium for Language Teaching and Learning - support for projects involving materials development, curriculum design, the integration of new pedagogical methods and research in the field of foreign languages.

ITS Innovation Fund - supports innovation and enhancement in teaching and learning through the use of information technologies.

Center for Media and Instructional Innovation (CMI2) - to support faculty with ideas for using advanced media as part of their teaching portfolio.

Awards and other prizes that may be awarded following an appropriate nomination:

Poorvu Prize - recognizes and enhances Yale's strength in interdisciplinary teaching.


Other funding opportunities at Yale not covered by this application procedure:

Davis Educational Foundation Grant - a continuation of the Electronic Library Initative. Provides faculty with course support to locate and make available pedagogical, content, and technology-based expertise to realize the teaching and learning objectives of faculty participants engaged in undergraduate teaching,

Howard Hughes Medical Institute - supports undergraduate education in the Biological Sciences and related fields.

General Information: Individual grant programs are reviewed and administered independently. The Instructional Innovation Grants (IIG) program offers a common application procedure, and serves to coordinate application distribution to the appropriate groups for review.

Instructors interested in exploring these opportunities should:

  • review the application guidelines before submitting the proposal.
