Awards and Prizes:

The Poorvu Family Award was established to recognize and enhance Yale's strength in interdisciplinary teaching. According to the terms of the gift, the award is to be made to outstanding members of the junior faculty who have demonstrated excellence in teaching in interdisciplinary undergraduate programs. Besides paying tribute to these junior faculty members, the award allows them to focus during the summer months on research essential to their development as scholars and teachers. The selection committee awards one or more prizes of $5000 in the spring based on nominations from chairmen and directors of interdisciplinary programs. These individuals are invited to propose a candidate for the Poorvu Family Award from among their untenured colleagues. Preferences will be given to candidates who have not held a Morse or Junior Faculty Fellowship and to those who have been on the Yale faculty for at least two years as of July of the year of nomination. For more information, contact KC Mills, Executive Assistant to the Dean of Yale College (kc.mills@yale.edu).
